The toddlers splashed in some water outside the fellowship, getting ready for our trip to the Splash Park this Friday. When the heat got to be too much, they went back into the cool air conditioning to continue to play. They also read a book about water: Water, Water Everywhere.
The World Travelers learned all about mountaineering from a guest tour guide, a friend of Larry Weaver's, John Pratt. He showed the kids all of the tools he uses while climbing, explained the terminology mountain climbers use, and showed them pictures of his climbing adventures. Then it was time to see mountain climbing in action. The travelers caravanned to KSU's old stadium to watch a climbing demonstration by John's wife, Sarah. Some of the parents even got involved! Scott Tanona and Stacy Tidmore climbed, repelled, and belayed. I'm sure the travelers were itching to climb themselves, but without child-sized harnesses, it just wasn't safe. Parents, this could be a great family activity now! :)
Fortunately, as the temperatures continue to sky-rocket, our World Travelers will be adventuring inside for the rest of the month. Coming up: Japan, South Africa, and England and Ireland.
